چکیده

Two experiments investigate the conjunction fallacy (judging that conjunctive probabilities are higher than the probabilities of the constituents). The conjunction fallacy was much less for P(E|C) tasks than for P(C|E) tasks. The results are explained in terms of the way people interpret the conditional probabilities. We argue that people prefer to reason from cause to effect (cause-to-effect reasoning heuristic), and for that reason, the instructions given for P(C|E) tasks were misinterpreted, resulting in apparent fallacy. In addition, we provide evidence showing that likelihood judgments are higher with more evidence (moreis-better heuristic).

Online multiple people tracking-by-detection in crowded scenes

Multiple people detection and tracking is a challenging task in real-world crowded scenes. In this paper, we have presented an online multiple people tracking-by-detection approach with a single camera. We have detected objects with deformable part models and a visual background extractor. In the tracking phase we have used a combination of support vector machine (SVM) person-specific classifie...

Improving Agent Performance for Multi-Resource Negotiation Using Learning Automata and Case-Based Reasoning

In electronic commerce markets, agents often should acquire multiple resources to fulfil a high-level task. In order to attain such resources they need to compete with each other. In multi-agent environments, in which competition is involved, negotiation would be an interaction between agents in order to reach an agreement on resource allocation and to be coordinated with each other. In recent ...

Disjunction of Causes and Disjunctive Cause: a Solution to the Paradox of Conditio Sine Qua Non using Minimal Abduction

We consider a problem of causality in legal reasoning. Conditio sine qua non (c.s.q.n) is a frequently used heuristics which determines a causality in legal reasoning. We argue that a paradox of c.s.q.n.is derived from a confusion between disjunction of causes and disjunctive cause and give a logical solution to the paradox using minimal abduction.

A discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm with local search for a production-based two-echelon single-vendor multiple-buyer supply chain

This paper formulates a two-echelon single-producer multi-buyer supply chain model, while a single product is produced and transported to the buyers by the producer. The producer and the buyers apply vendor-managed inventory mode of operation. It is assumed that the producer applies economic production quantity policy, which implies a constant production rate at the producer. The operational pa...

Psychometric characteristics of clinical reasoning problems (CRPs) and its correlation with routine multiple choice question (MCQ) in cardiology department

Introduction: Clinical reasoning is one of the most importantskills in the process of training a medical student to become anefficient physician. Assessment of the reasoning skills in a medicalschool program is important to direct students’ learning. One ofthe tests for measuring the clinical reasoning ability is ClinicalReasoning Problems (CRPs). The major aim of this study is tomeasure psycho...
